Technical Information

Silestone is the result of the perfect blending of the highest possible European technologies with the hardest and most resistant material in nature: QUARTZ.

This material, as sand or grain, is agglomerated with colour pigments and polyester resin, providing exceptional results in strength, hardness, durability, stain resistance, colour and design.

Material Performance

Stain Resistance

Silestone’s high quartz content and high density make it extremely stain resistant, an important consideration for any application. It is less likely to stain than a marble or granite and will not warp like solid plastic surfaces. In CSIRO tests performed on Silestone, it achieved the highest possible score for stain resistance. Silestone is the perfect choice for food preparation and high moisture areas such as the kitchen and bathroom.

Colour Consistency

There are over 30 stunning colours in the Silestone range. All colours are consistent, with no chance of huge imperfections within individual slabs. Variations between batches never exceeds 5%. Colours and patterns can be duplicated allowing for separate production batches to match previous orders.

Heat Resistance

It is recommended for use in splashbacks and around stove tops. It is NOT, however recommended that hot pans or pots be placed directly on the Silestone surface.

Scratch Resistance

Silestone is an incredibly hard material therefore it is unlikely to scratch with day to day use. Silestone performs better than many surface materials including stainless steel, marble, limestone, laminate, solid plastic surfaces and timber.

Acid Resistance

Acid resistance may not seem like an important consideration in the domestic kitchen, but many cooking ingredients contain high levels of acid which will begin to corrode the surface of softer materials such as marble or limestone. Lemon, vinegar or coke, all these contain acid. Silestone is acid resistant ensuring 100% confidence.

Slab size

Silestone® is available in the following minimum sizes: 3000 x 1380mm and in thicknesses of 20mm and 30mm*. These slabs are then cut and polished in the same manner as other natural stones and installed. The superior uniform size of Silestone ensures the most cost effective use of the material as there is less cutting waste.

New slab size now available - 25% larger than regular quartz slab sizes 3270 x 1630mm x 20mm available in 7 colours.

Ivory Coast*, Ebony Pearl, Blanco Maple*, Brazilian Brown, Blanco Stellar*, Negro Stellar & Rojo Stellar.

* Available in 30mm

Sealing

Silestone is essentially non porous and therefore DOES NOT need to be sealed at any time making it a maintenance free solution for all your work in stone.

Edge Profiles

Any profile available in natural stone is available in Silestone as the manufacturing methods are the same.

Finishes

Parbury stocks 2 finishes polished and leather slabs of the Silestone range.

Cleaning

Due to its excellent physical properties the daily cleaning of Silestone countertops and floors can be performed by means of washing with a neutral soap diluted in water. You may use almost any household cleaner and a damp cloth or a plastic scourer. We do not recommend the use of a steel scourer on the surface of the stone.
